10th Annual Grace's Lemonade Stand
Over the past nine years, Grace's Lemonade Stand has raised over $169,500 for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
I never imagined nine years ago when I started this lemonade stand that I would still be doing this ten years later, nor could I have imagined raising over $169,500 and the difference I would make. Your continued generosity and support have helped make this happen. Your donations have made such a positive difference in the lives of the kids and families being treated in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
A few years ago, I met with the director of development at the hospital and we talked about how the funds I raised could be used and I decided I wanted the money I raised to go to helping families pay their utility bills and other expenses so that their parents could be with their child at the hospital instead of at work. For a lot of families whose child is being treated for cancer or a blood disorder, they have to work and I wanted them to feel that they could be with their child without the stress of wondering how they were going to pay for heat or electricity. The other way the money I raise is used is to help fund a nurse to teach families how to do more of their child's care at home so they don't have to come to the hospital as much. As nice as Connecticut Children's Medical Center is, it's much better to be at home than to go to the clinic. Through your generosity, we have helped children and their families spend more time together, in what is a very stressful time.
Every dollar counts. Your tax-deductible gift will help make an impact by enabling Connecticut Children’s to invest in patient care, research and technology. Today’s investments will make tomorrow’s care even more exceptional and give hope for a bright future to young patients at Connecticut Children’s. Thanks to Whole Foods Market generously donating the lemonade each year, every dollar raised goes to Connecticut Children's.
We now have donors from all 50 States, D.C., and several countries. Thank you all for your help spreading the word!
As I enter into my final year, I am hoping to raise $31,000, which would put my ten year total at $175,000. I know there are many charities and causes close to your hearts, I hope you will choose to support mine for one more year.
Thank you for considering.
