Blood, Sweat & Cornstarch
We're adding more meaning to our miles! Your support will make an impact.
The Glycogen Storage Disease Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is forming a team to participate in the Eversource Hartford Marathon Events on October 14th and we want YOU to join the fun! Join us in creating awareness for this rare genetic liver disease, and help us raise funds to support clinical care, education and research.
We’re looking for runners and walkers of all ages to participate in the day’s events, which include the full marathon, half marathon, 5K, team relay, and the HMF Fit Kids Run. The race is open to anyone and everyone… patients, families and friends!
The Glycogen Storage Disease Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is the largest program of its kind in the world, caring for patients from 49 states and 48 different countries. The program relocated to Connecticut Children’s in 2017 where a beautiful new unit was built exclusively for clinical care and research of Glycogen Storage Disease.
Because our patients struggle with severe hypoglycemia they rely on frequent blood sugar checks and carefully calculated and timed doses of Argo cornstarch around the clock. So we have dubbed our team Blood, Sweat & Cornstarch! A reminder of the strength and fortitude of our patients and their families. All of the money we raise will go directly to the Glycogen Storage Disease Program at Connecticut Children’s to help us deliver exceptional care and continue to make great strides in education and research.
Thank you for your generous support!
